Does anyone have any truly good ideas of how to steam-our financial aide system so that the entire department can work more efficiently?

Every where I look I see Apples. Every one knows that PC’s are less expenseve. This increases the cost of college for students who must have a computer for their work. Think about it the next time the admininstation accepts a free or discounted Apple.

I second the financial aide system. I couldn’t get my financial aide because they said I didn’t do that online test; which I did — twice. So I never received it.

I disagree, Leo.
I am a Graphic Communications student, and Macs are best for the work that we do. Even in my GCOM classes, some students have PCs at home & I don’t think it has caused any problems.
For other students using an Apple at school and a PC at home really shouldn’t be a problem. They can save the file as a document that works on a PC (such as a Word doc.).
Compatibility has come a long way.

Not true about the financial aid orientation. The orientation is recommended but not required by the financial aid department–which means if you haven’t done it, it won’t postpone your file but you should do it anyway!

In the long run PC’s are more expensive to run than Macs. I have had several of each kind. PC’s need constant repair and maintenance. On average my PC’s have only had a 1-2yr lifespan before the thing gets slow, breaks down, and glitches. I even worked for a PC based company, and their systems were going down constantly. It was embarrassing! Compare that to a Mac. I’ve had mac’s last for 10 or more years with little or no maintenance necessary.
